The Uesugi hakusyakutei in Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture, is a historic building designated as a national tangible cultural property.

In early summer, the azaleas planted on the grounds are a feast for the eyes of visitors.

This building was built in 1896 as the residence of the 14th head of the Uesugi family. However, it was burned down in a big fire in Yonezawa City, and what stands today is a reconstructed building.

Behind the building, there is a beautiful Japanese garden where you can sit on the benches and enjoy the space.
