Uriwari Stone Garden Park, built on the site of a stone quarry in Takahata Town, Yamagata Prefecture.
Description of Uriwari Stone Garden Park

This park used to be used for mining Takahata stone. It is currently not in use, but has become a park and a place for tourists to visit.
When you look up from below at the rocks cut into the sky, you will be amazed at the stunning scenery!

This place is at the far end of the park. There are traces of scaffolding used in the past for quarrying stone.

This space in the back is connected by this tunnel. The tunnels are also made of rock, so mining must have been really difficult!

It’s amazing what people could do in the past.

This is a stage made of rocks. Concerts are sometimes held here.
Surrounded by rocks, the acoustics are excellent. You can listen to good music that doesn’t feel like outdoors.

This place can be rented for 200 yen per person.(When you want to use it, you need to apply to Roadside Station Takahata.)
The people who live in this area sometimes use it for picnics.

There is a QR code on the signboard in the park. If you scan the code with your smartphone, you will be able to get tourist information about the place.
ut unfortunately, only Japanese is supported.
